Özet

In the report written about the Tahtacis who lived in Adana in 1918, the geographical features of the people in that region and flora and climate which result from these features are concerned. We have important data about the circumstances where the Tahtacis lived by giving a lot of information especially about the geographical features. By pointing out the climatic features that geography has, how this climate together with its flora met the humans' needs is understood. It is seen that climate is directly related to human life and is highly effective in terms of health conditions. There is a direct relationship between the spring of some illnesses or the avoidance of illnesses and climate and flora. The habitat of the Tahtacis, their distribution of population and habitatsa are given and the groupings among them are handled. The Tahtacis, who were grouped as the noob ones and the ones from Usküdar, had differences in their belief applications even if these differences are small. One of the striking aspects is that they, as some researchers highligt, are ot from another race but are Turkish in essence and came from Horasan. Cem houses constitute the basis of the Tahtacis and Grandfathers run these houses. Almost all of them follow Haci Bektash Veli and Balim Sultan and are included in Imam Cafer Buyruks. It is known that the Tahtacis made their living from forestry and they got their name from this field of occupation. It is seen that they have expanded to many regions of Turkey, moved away from their old occupations today and make their living from many different jobs.
