The purpose of the study is to determine the views of social studies teacher candidates on forest fires. In this respect, it is of great importance in determining the perspectives of prospective teachers, who will educate future generations, on the issue of forest fires. In this context, the study was conducted in the 2024-2025 academic year with 84 teacher candidates studying in the departments of social studies education in the faculties of education of Kırşehir Ahi Evran and Gazi universities in accordance with the qualitative research method. In the study, a semi-structured interview form created by the researchers was used in the data collection process. Data obtained from teacher candidates were analyzed using content analysis and descriptive analysis methods. According to the findings, it was concluded that half of the social studies teacher candidates see forest fires as only human disasters, the majority of them evaluate the cause of forest fires as artificial, they think there is a close relationship between forest fires and the summer season, the majority think there is a relationship between forest fires and climate, and almost all of the teacher candidates think that preparations against forest fires in Turkey are not sufficient. Based on these findings, it can be suggested that prospective teachers receive adequate training to have a complete and clear understanding of the effects of forest explosions.
