Abstract Objective: In order to increase the knowledge and use of contraceptive methods, it is important to determine the attitudes of women and men towards contraception and the affecting factors. This study aim is the attitudes of women and men towards contraceptive methods and the affecting factors. Methods: The study is a descriptive study. The sample of the study consisted of 541 women and men over the age of 18. The data were collected between 10.10.2022 and 15.11.2022 through the "Personal Information Form" and "Attitude Scale on Contraceptive Methods". Results: 80.2% of the participants are women and 19.8% are men. The most known methods of contraception are condoms and oral contraceptives. Women's attitudes towards contraceptive methods are higher than men (p<0,05). The scores obtained from the scale were higher in the women who were single, whose partner graduates from university or higher, who have not experienced miscarriage, children and pregnancies, who have information about contraceptive methods; higher in the men who were smoking and who have information about contraceptive methods (p<0.05). Conclusion: Our study demonstrated women’s attitudes towards contraceptive methods are affected by marital status, partner’s level of education, experience of miscarriage, number of children and pregnancies, information about contraceptive methods. Men’s attitudes towards contraceptive methods are affected by smoking and information about contraceptive methods. It is recommended that family planning education programs and counseling services be planned and carried out by considering the attitudes of individuals.
