Harmonics pose a significant issue in electric power systems due to their adverse effects, making their elimination highly desirable. The use of nonlinear loads and conventional rectifier circuits generates harmonics, which in turn reduce the power factor and overall system efficiency. This paper presents the modeling of a three-phase, three-wire Shunt Active Power Filter and its control mechanisms. A fuzzy logic-based control system has been developed to minimize harmonic levels. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, the results were compared with those of conventional PI control. Simulations were conducted using Matlab/Simulink, and the results demonstrate that the proposed control technique outperforms the conventional method in harmonic suppression.
