Abstract

In addition to total gastrectomy, pancreaticoduodenectomy may be added to surgery to provide treatment in advanced gastric cancer. After surgery, secretion of pancreatic and stomach enzymes, which provide the absorption of many micronutrients, is reduced. Post-operative follow-up of patients by a multidisciplinary team and adequate supplementation can prevent secondary complications. We would like to present you a case of acrodermatitis enteropathica secondary to zinc deficiency in a patient who underwent gastrectomy and pancreaticoduodenectomy due to advanced gastric adenocarcinoma.
