Özet

In this paper, following the traces of holism, I aimed to explain and discuss some of the issues regarding yogic practice, physical activity (PA), sport and health and interdisciplinary sciences. I provide insights to answer questions such as «can these (health, yoga, sports, etc) various systems be treated as a whole or how their juxtaposition can serve to a holistic approach? Is this an awkward juxtaposition, or charmingly in sync? With social Sciences, we can resolve all the interdisciplinary input and give meaningful, but not ultimate nor indefinite, explanations for specific changing contexts and uses. Employing interdisciplinary-plus studies with (critical) sociological inquiry, we are able to highlight critical signs, especially «the red signs» thus ensure coherence for moral practice. Such evaluations showed us for example, how some of the standart discourses turned to the myths that can misguide practice. Moreover, cultural systems can be the roots for more creative and virtuous ways to understand, explain, interpret the data or contexts. For example, asking «how sports emerged» is a different sociological quest than «how yoga emergedby its consequences; first one (protection, survival, hunting, men in crises, commercial) may foster tension while the latter (philoshopy, holistic ideology, religious practice?) tend to hold recreative insights. In addition, for example, Yama in Yoga leads one to start with ethics which is a must however can be overlooked in some of the practices even today. Another example, as Niyama (strengthening 'positive duties' or 'observances') anchored in general traditions of Eastern culture for healthy, natural, inclusive living; It is the Niyama perspective or attitute, for instance, when one recognizes the positive local historical input and in result we can highlight that the PA, Sport, Health, Education Sciences have been practicing the holistic approach (development of all dimensions) since, at least, Sumerians.
