Many countries have focused their policies on lifelong learning recently. It is necessary to examine the role of technological tools to guide policies and lifelong learning practices in this regard. Today's widely used artificial intelligence (AI) technologies support the expansion of educational opportunities, customisation of processes, and implementation in lifelong learning. Therefore, it is necessary to accurately conceptualise the connection between AI and lifelong learning. This book chapter addresses the role and impact of AI in lifelong learning with subsections such as AI-Based Personalized Education, Explainable AI (XAI) in Education, AI Agents in Education, Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), and Current Trends in Lifelong Learning. Also, the chapter offers an idea about the creative uses and prospects of artificial intelligence to increase the efficiency and accessibility of learning procedures.
