Özet

Literacy skills form the basis of lifelong learning processes. One of the main objectives of education programs around the world is to raise competent literate individuals. For this reason, literacy skills are important at all levels of these programs. Today, with changes in technology and social life, the scope and definition of literacy skills have changed and new literacy skills have emerged. The interrelated nature of these new literacy skills, and the increasing number of literacy types being addressed under a separate course, brings various limitations. In this context, 11 literacy types are defined in this study of the definition and scope of literacy skills in the K12 Skills Framework Türkiye Holistic Model (2023). Then, in the model focuses on the development process for literacy skills as well as its types, its structural features, its relations with other skill areas and dispositions, and how it can be integrated into the teaching process is discussed.
