AIM:Diastema and polydiastema are anomalies that may arise from genetic, developmental, or acquired etiological factors and can adversely affect patients’ aesthetic expectations. Direct resin composite restorations are frequently preferred for the management of diastema due to their minimally invasive nature, single-visit application, and ability to provide favorable aesthetic outcomes. The aim of this case report is to present the rehabilitation of three diastema cases with different clinical characteristics using direct resin composite materials. CASE:In the first case, a 24-year-old female patient presented with polydiastema between the maxillary anterior teeth 11, 12, 21, and 22. The diastemas were restored with direct resin composite (Tokuyama Estelite Asteria A2B) using the free-hand technique under rubber dam isolation. In the second case, a 19-year-old female patient presented with a fracture of a previous diastema closure restoration between the maxillary central incisors (11 and 21). The existing restorations were removed, and the teeth were restored using a direct resin composite (Tokuyama Estelite Asteria A2B). In the third case, a 32-year-old male patient presented with a diastema between the maxillary central incisors (11 and 21), which was restored with direct resin composite (Tokuyama Estelite Asteria A2B) using the free-hand technique under rubber dam isolation. A minimally invasive approach was adopted in all cases. Following evaluation of anterior guidance and occlusion, finishing and polishing procedures were performed using a yellow-band finishing bur, Sof-Lex polishing discs (3M), and Twistia polishing burs (Kuraray). CONCLUSION:In all three cases, direct resin composite restorations resulted in successful clinical outcomes in terms of both esthetics and function. Diastema and polydiastemas closure using direct resin composite restorations may be considered an effective and conservative treatment option, as it can be performed with minimal loss of tooth structure, completed in a single appointment, and provide high levels of patient satisfaction.
