Despite the earthquakes that reveal the inability of human beings in the face of nature and cannot be prevented, museum structures have changed over time with their iconic approaches in the city where they are located. Approach to earthquake reliability of these structures; Beyond the structural concern, measures are taken to prevent damage to the works in the museum, and to ensure their balance, as well as the safety of visitors and artifacts in the exhibition areas. Based on this, in order to avoid restrictive decisions in structural design due to different architectural design criteria, various vibration control systems have been developed that reduce vibration due to structures, thus affecting structural safety/durability. At this point, one of the most preferred developments is the seismic base isolator system. These systems, which absorb the energy to be exposed by preventing most of the horizontal movements occurring in the earth's crust from reaching the load-bearing system of the building, significantly prevent the structural elements and the equipment in the building from being damaged by earthquakes. Seismic base isolation systems, which are used in different building types, are widely used especially in developed countries, while they are preferred in building types that are important in developing countries. At this point, the usage examples of these systems in museum buildings and the reasons for their application are considered as the research focus. As a field study, museum buildings in different earthquake zones in the world where seismic isolation systems are used were selected and the reason for the use of these systems was analyzed. While examining the earthquake behavior of the mentioned museums, the issue of how the seismic isolation system is applied was mentioned. Thus, a resource was created for architects, who have a say in the building sector, to become familiar with seismic design and base isolators.
