Özet
Metastasis is the primary cause of cancer-related deaths yet remains poorly understood. Advances in cancer biology have partially revealed the molecular mechanisms underlying metastasis. During metastasis, tumor cells interact with proteins and adjacent normal cells, enhancing their mobility and plasticity. These interactions allow cancer cells to overcome stromal barriers and colonize new sites by communicating with the tumor microenvironment. Genetic and epigenetic changes in the tumor and its microenvironment drive these processes. Neoplastic disease results from the accumulation of mutations in specific genes, a process that may span several years. Comprehending these mechanisms is essential for pinpointing therapeutic targets. This review emphasizes recent advancements and understandings regarding the metastatic process.
