The culture which is the thought and life style of a nation reflects to literary works that are created by that nation's language. The literary works that are accepted by society and which are transferred from a generation to the other reveal the identity of that nation. Proverb, idiom, riddle, folk song and mani (a traditional Turkish quatrain form) are some of the literary works that reflect the experience, knowledge and life style of Turkish society. Turkish society benefits from the different elements of daily life while putting its thought and identity into words. The clothing and the elements about clothing have been benefited while our literary works have been created. In this work, the clothing and the elements about clothing in our thought have been handled through the proverbs, idioms, riddles, folk songs and mani (a traditional Turkish quatrain form)
