Özet

The purpose of this research work is to find the optimal combination of process variables for manufacturing of epoxy-based fibreglass composite material for sanitary water tank application. The variables into consideration are the temperature, time and the catalyst percentage. The core materials used for manufacturing composite are fiberglass, resin and hardener. An E-glass chopped strand of Fiberglass MAT 300 g/m2 and general-purpose orthophthalic polyester Resin is use for manufacturing of composite. A taguchi technique is used to design the experiments. From the experimental results shows, maximum tensile strength of the composite can be achieved when amount of catalyst is 2% kept at 450 °C for 1 h. It is also found that with change in temperature there is a change in mechanical properties of the composite. With the different grades of fiberglass mat and resin used the strength and hardness can be increased.
