Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS) is a rare neurological disorder characterized by progressive rigidity and muscular spasms affecting the axillary axis and extremity muscles. Spinal cord-mediated reflexes show sudden movements associated with physiological irregularity. The presence of GAD antibodies in the cerebrospinal fluid and coincidence with other autoimmune diseases suggest an immunological basis. Benzodiazepines, baclofen and immunosuppressives are used for symptomatic treatment.
