The aim of this study is to analyze the relationships among the concepts of norms, social influence, and conformity behavior within the framework of Erving Goffman’s dramaturgical analysis. In his analysis, Goffman employs the metaphor of the theater stage to interpret social relations through concepts such as front stage, backstage, role, and performance. Through the conceptualization of “impression management,” which he developed in connection with these notions and which occupies a central place in dramaturgical analysis, Goffman investigates how conformity behavior is shaped under the gaze of the observer in everyday life, as well as the social consequences of this phenomenon. From this perspective, Goffman’s dramaturgical analysis builds a bridge between the fundamental concepts of sociology and everyday life. In this regard, the first part of the study addresses the concepts of norms, social influence, and conformity behavior by examining their interrelations and conceptual frameworks, while the second part focuses on the reflections and implications of these concepts within the functioning of everyday life, as revealed through Goffman’s dramaturgical analysis.
