Synthesis and antinociceptive activity of some 6-benzoyl-2(3H)-benzothiazolone derivatives

Abstract

Ten derivatives of 2(3H)-benzothiazolone carrying benzoyl moieties at the position 6 and methyl group at the position 3 have been synthesized and their structure elucidated by IR, 1H NMR spectral data and elemental analysis. Antinociceptive activity of the compounds has been investigated by modified Koster test in mice using aspirin as a reference. Compounds 1-3, 5-8 have been more potent than the reference.
