The use of brick powder in constructions dates back to very ancient civilizations. Generally, brick powder was mixed with lime and used in making mortar for masonry. In this study, the usability of brick powder as pozzolanic additive in cement mortar has been investigated. Cement is reduced 0 %, 10 %, 20 % and 30 % by weight and replaced with brick powder. For mechanical properties mortar samples with dimensions of 40 x 40 x 160 mm, were prepared. Mechanical properties of mortar samples were determined at the ages of 7, 28, 90 and 180 days. According to the results obtained, it has been determined that the addition of brick powder increased the mixing water necessity and extended the initial and final setting time of cement. The best results for compressive and flexural strengths have been obtained on the sample containing by 10 % brick powder.
