Background: Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer observed in women and accounts for 15% of cancer-related deaths among women. Netrin-4 has been shown in studies to play a role in axon guidance, stimulating and inhibiting angiogenesis, tumor formation, and the development of various cancers, including breast cancer. UNC5B and neogenin are receptors for Netrin-4. There are controversial results about expressions of Netrin-4 and its receptors in breast cancer.

Aim: The study aims to investigate whether there is a change in serum levels of measured parameters in patients compared to controls. Methods: In this study, Netrin-4, Neogenin, and UNC5B levels were measured by ELISA method using commercial kits in 50 breast cancer patients and 50 healthy controls. Results: Serum Netrin-4 and neogenin levels were found to be significantly lower in breast cancer patients compared to control groups p<0.01, p<0.01, respectively), whereas UNC5B levels were significantly higher (p<0.01).

Discussion and Conclusion: Some studies are showing decreased expression of Netrin-4 ve Neogenin and increased expression of UNC5B in breast cancer tissue. Our findings in serum samples are consistent with the studies performed in tissue for Netrin-4, Neogenin, and UNC5B in breast cancer.
