The purpose of the study is to investigate how the European Profiling Grid (EPG) can be used for EFL and Biology teacher education in Turkey. In the study, scoping review design method, suggested by Arksey and O’Malley (2005) was adopted. For this purpose, EPG and similar documents released by the European Commission and the European Union for teacher education were examined. The results have revealed that the EPG originally serves pre/in-service teacher training and professional development of foreign language teachers. As a comprehensive document it comprises both definitions and explanations of language teaching qualifications and some grids or tables to illustrate these definitions together. It comprises certain descriptors covering four key areas as follows: 1) Qualifications, teacher training, and experience; 2) Core competences (methodology – knowledge & skills, lesson and course planning, interaction with and monitoring of learners, and assessment); 3) Enabling skills, such as language awareness, intercultural competence and the ability to use digital media; 4) Professionalism. All these skills can be adapted to create a document for Biology teachers, as well. This study presents some practical suggestions about how to adopt the EPG for pre-service teacher education in ELT and Biology departments in Turkey.
