The effect of IELEP on the math skills of preschool children

Özet

This study examined the effect of the Interactive Early Literacy Education Program (IELEP) on the mathematics skills of preschool children. An experimental design with a pretest, post-test, retention test, and a control group was used in this study. The study group comprised of 19 children who attended preschool education. In this study, IELEP was administered to the experimental group in the form of 60 activities for 12 weeks outside the preschool education program. Data were collected using an Early Mathematics Test (EMAT). The Mann-Whitney U test, Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and Friedman test were used to analyze the data. The results showed that IELEP significantly affected the mathematics skills of preschool children. The findings of this study suggest a critical link between early literacy and the development of early math skills.
