Abstract

Yavuz that was included in the navy of the Ottoman State just before the World War I., is an unforgettable armour ship with a distinguished place in Turkish history. This armour ship, which provided power to the Ottoman State with its presence at a very critical time, gave the state power and prestige with its activities during and after the war. In this study, we have been informed about the following subjects; Yavuz's transition process to the Ottoman State, activities during World War I., damages caused during these activities, constructions for repair, effect of reparation on Turkish-Greek relations and finally condition after repair. Yavuz, whom the Greeks saw as a war threat in the repair process, after being repaired, contrary to fear, has been one of the leading representatives of the Republic of Turkey's peace politics and policy.
