Infrared spectra of M(4-apy)(2)Ni(CN)(4) (M = Cd, Co, Fe or Ni; 4-apy = 4-acetylpyridine) and IR and Raman spectra of M(acr)(2)Ni(CN)(4) (M = Mn, Co, Zn, Ni, Cu, or Cd; acr = acridine) complexes are reported. Spectroscopic and magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate that the compounds have the structure of Hofmann-type complexes. The Cu(acr) 2Ni(CN)4 complex has spectral features different from the other compounds. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
