Türkçe Özet:
English Abstract:
Value Management (VM) provides a systematic methodology for enhancing project value by optimizing the relationship between function and cost, a critical imperative in the complex construction industry. This chapter synthesizes the foundational principles, historical development, and operational methodologies of VM, encompassing related concepts like Value Engineering (VE) and Value Analysis (VA). It elucidates core analytical techniques integral to the VM process, notably Function Analysis System Technique (FAST) and Pareto Analysis, outlining the structured job plan typically employed in VM workshops. The practical efficacy and adaptability of VM are demonstrated through the examination of diverse application examples within international and Turkish construction projects, ranging from building design optimization (student housing, hospitality, courthouses) to specific component/material selection challenges. These case studies illustrate VM's utility in systematically identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising essential functions, improving overall project performance, fostering innovation, and ultimately achieving 'best value' outcomes for stakeholders across various project phases.
