Thanks to the benefits of the Ultrasound Imaging system, this imaging modality become one of the common techniques in the realm of medicine. This imaging modality exhibits some inherent drawbacks which cause ambiguity in image registration. In some studies, one way to tackle this issue is exploiting the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) to estimate Ultrasound probe position and implicitly image position for the aim of image registration. However Inertial Measurement Units are prone to accumulate errors by increasing the time. In this study, the effect of the Kalman Filter on IMU's data and consequently on position estimation is evaluated. According to acquired results, a reduction in error amount for all rotation and translation values has been recorded while training and testing rely on Filtered IMU data.
