Özet

Introduction-aim: Quality concept is becoming increasingly more important in all sectors. Patient satisfaction is one of the basic steps in the quality of the health care system. The aim of this study was to determine the satisfaction of women treated at one of the Mother and Child Health and Family Planning Centres in Ankara. Material-Method: This is a descriptive study, conducted between 17 January- 31 January 2002. Of the 3465 women treated at the centres between these dates, 2493 women (71.9%) were investigated. A preformed questionnare form was applied with face-to-face survey technique. A scale was used to evaluate the satisfaction state. Results: The main reason for the women choosing this centre was detected as being close to the centre (67.4%). Of the 2493 women, 86.9% reported that they were "satisfied" or "very satisfied" with the centre in general. Another major reason for applying to the centre was prescription requests (32.8%). A significant difference was detected between the "number of previous applications" and the "satisfaction rate" (p<0.001). Conclusion: This study shows the importance of the distance of a primary health care centre to the patients. In order to improve the service, other studies should be carried out to show the reasons for complaints and the necessary precautions should be taken accordingly.
