Benzoxazole-2-thione as the starting material has been synthesized, and 2-methylthiobenzoxazole has been obtained therefrom. 2-Hydrazinobenzoxazole has been prepared from 2-methylthiobenzoxazole by heating with hydrazine hydrate under pressure in ethanol. Substituted arylhydrazones have been synthesized by the reaction of 2-hydrazinobenzoxazole with o- or p-substituted arylaldehydes, and antifungal activities of the synthesized compounds have been tested against yeast-like fungi such as Candida albicans, Candida stellatoidea, Candida parapsilosis, Candida pseudotropicalis.
