The Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes magnitude of 7.7 and 7.6 Mw, which occurred on February 6, 2023, caused many loss of lives and structural damage in 11 provinces. Studies conducted after these earthquakes revealed that lateral spreading, sand ejacta and soil liquefaction caused serious damage in a wide area. Due to liquefaction, differential settlement and toppling of building foundations have been detected in the region. This study aims to investigate the connection between liquefaction and the damage that occurred in the Müftülük Building on Gazi Street in Gölbaşı district of Adıyaman province. Although the presence of piles under the foundation of the building was expected to be resistant to earthquakes, the damage seen proved that the piles did not work in accordance with the deformations due to liquefaction in the region under an earthquake. The soil profile and test results were examined in the light of the field tests carried out in the region after the earthquake, and it was determined that the building foundation settled on the sand layer. The results of the researchs conducted in Gölbaşı district were examined and many findings were found regarding the liquefaction of the sandy soil in the region. Within the scope of this study, earthquake acceleration records suitable for the region were selected and liquefaction analyzes were carried out with the help of LPile program. The LPile program was used to examine the pile-soil interaction, and the DEEPSOIL program was used to examine the behavior of the soil under dynamic loads. It is anticipated that this study, which deals with the damages that may occur under dynamic loads in pile foundations, will be beneficial for the designs to be made on the relevant subject. |
