Özet

Complex road networks have led to an increase in the number of curved tunnels. Many studies by researchers have focused on straight tunnels. Studies in curved tunnels have extensively examined the effect of jet fans, but there is limited information on the impact of a possible fire situation in curved road tunnels. This study investigated the effect of the fire in different locations in the curved road tunnel according to the working conditions of the jet fans. The analyses in this paper were made with ANSYS Fluent, which is based on the computational fluid dynamics method. It was observed that the temperature distribution of the smoke caused by the fire in the tunnel was lower when exposed to fresh air under the effect of two jet fan groups and higher when the jet fans drew the hot smoke. In addition, the air from the jet fan adheres to the concave wall due to the Coanda effect. It pushes the smoke against the convex wall. The results of this study could help locate jet fans for safety.
