Folk culture is like a treasure, unknown and endless. Within this frame, it is clear that the studies carried on by the folklorists are not sufficent. A lot of excitement, knowledge, culture and taste that have not been noticed yet in city life, are hidden in the treasure, called folk life. It is essential to benefit from this treasure, and rediscover the folk culture with all of its values. One of the elements of folk culture to be discovered is "bastirik," one of the quite significant sources for the production and taste for the Turkish cuisine.
