Özet

Eight samples of silicone oils (polydimethylsiloxane) were analyzed with gel permeation chromatography and inductively coupled plasma spectroscopy. Only 2 silicone samples were found to he almost ideal for intraocular use. In the mean extraction time of 4 months, no difference was observed clinically between pure oils and the others. It is concluded that periodic analysis of silicone oils used in ophthalmic surgery must he performed to establish hiocompatibility standards.
