Obstacles over propagation paths are generally modeled as wedges and cylinders. For some terrain geometries it is more advantageous to use ellipse models. In this study path losses for an ellipse cascaded with a wedge are for a double wedge are compared. It was found that path loss for ellipse and wedge is less than for double wedge. This is because creeping waves shed energy tangentially only in the direction of propagation. On the other hand, wedge diffracted ray is spread into a large volume.
