In contemporary metropolitan cities, as a result of lessening green areas and evaporation surfaces, increasing asphalted surfaces and built areas meteorological parameters change and cause local and regional climate changes which makes the cities unhealthy places that have their own climatic properties. This differentiation between urban areas and surrounding semi-rural and rural areas is as 'urban heat island' determined. Although it is known that in Ankara, the climate parameters are changing as a result of rapid and dense urbanization, but there is not a study concerning this issue. Thus, together with this study, first the meteorological differentiations and urban heat islands at regional scale in Ankara metropolitan area caused by the changes in land use and land coverage since 1985 up to 2002 has determined. Besides in the case areas having different densities of built up areas and various sizes of green areas determined in the light of the former study; the relations between density of built up areas, green areas and meteorological parameters had put forward through meteorological measurements.
