Özet

Background: Immature ovarian teratoma, commonly known as malignant ovarian teratoma, is one of the ovarian germ cell cancers. Immature teratomas with peritoneal gliomatosis are rare and characterized by widespread mature glial tissue implants in the peritoneum. There is no universally accepted treatment algorithm for ovarian or testicular teratoma-induced gliomatosis peritonei (GP) disease. Case Report: A 42-year-old women diagnosed with intra-abdominal glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), which originated from an ovarian teratoma. Systemic chemotherapy was recommended to the patient after the operation, but the patient refused. Recurrent disease was detected seven months after the operation, and the patient was started on platinum-based chemotherapy. The patient, who progressed under platinum-based therapy, was started on temozolamide. Stable response was achieved under temozolamide treatment and has been followed for five months with stable response. Conclusion: Glioblastoma multiforme arising within a teratoma and GP accompanying intra-abdominal GBM are very rare conditions. Our case draws attention to the development of gliomatosis peritonei and its aggressive course despite treatment. The treatment algorithm for this disease has not been clearly determined, and we believe that our case will contribute to the literature.
