In this study, three types of raw meats, minced meat, chicken, and beef, were purchased from local supermarkets in the Ankara and tested for the occurrence of Listeria spp. Listeria monocytogenes was isolated in 8.25%. Of the 9 L. monocytogenes strains, five strains were isolated from chicken samples, two strains from minced meat samples, and two strains from beef samples. Other species isolated were Listeria innocua (90%) and Listeria welshimeri (1.2%). Of the 98 L. innocua strains, 49 strains were isolated from minced meat samples, 26 strains from chicken meat and 23 strains from beef samples. The 2 L. welshimeri strains isolated were from beef samples.
