Özet

The effectiveness of antiretroviral therapy (ART) has significantly improved the life expectancy in people living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) (PLWH). As a result, the number of aging PLWHs at risk for the development of chronic comorbidities and geriatric syndromes has increased. The drug burden in PLWHs, due to HIV infection and comorbidities, negatively affects patient-related outcomes. To reduce the drug burden in PLWH, it is recommended to personalize drug regimens and consider deprescribing based on their health status, treatment goals, and preferences. This review aims to discuss the increasing drug burden in PLWH and approaches to reduce this drug burden.
