Outer Tie Rod Design by Using Topology Optimization, Analysis and Verification

Özet
Outer tie rod and inner tie rod are important parts of the steering system, that are exposed to dynamic and static loads as well as bearing loads due to their function. Outer tie rod shaft is the area that provides freedom to the designers in the design process. In this study, outer tie rod shaft design is made with topology optimization. It is aimed to reach optimum outer tie rod design with specific loads in the limited design space. Outer tie rod design is created as 3D. After the 3D model phase, finite element analysis is performed to evaluate buckling and fatigue behavior of the tie rod. Finite element analysis results are evaluated, and optimum outer tie rod design is determined.
