In this study, the wind speed potential and energy density of Ankara city are evaluated. Wind speed data is collected from meteorological measuring station located at 15 meters height above the ground level between 2013 and 2015 and it is recorded at the every 10 minutes. Two parameters Weibull distribution is one of the most used methods to analyze wind speed characteristic of an area. This study aims to compare two different methods which are used to determine parameters of Weihull distribution and evaluate the wind energy potential of Ankara. Comparative analysis of the accuracy of the methods is carried out statistically using Root-Mean Square Error (RMSE) and analysis of variance (R2). In the study, Matlab is used to execute developed scripts based on mathematical models for estimation of Weibull parameters, and perform statistical analyses.
