Özet

In this study biodiesel was produced from unused and refined sunflower oil by transesterification method. The effect of this fuel on the performance and exhaust emissions of a turbocharged direct injection diesel engine has been investigated, experimentally, at part load conditions. After the experimental studies, it has been concluded that changes in engine performance and exhaust gas emissions was mainly affected from lower heating value of the biodiesel with respect to diesel fuel. Generally, specific fuel consumption, efficiency and nitrogen oxide emission were increased; exhaust gas temperature and smoke opacity were decreased with use of biodiesel.
