Abstract

In this study, usability of stone powders that are obtained from the wastes during the processing of Ahlat stone (ignimbrite) in concrete was investigated. For this purpose, Ahlat stone powder was used in 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 % proportions. Concrete mortar samples were prepared by this way. In order to compare the performance of Ahlat stone powder, andesite and limestone powder were also prepared as with same proportions. As a result it was determined that all concrete samples that are prepared using 5 % stone powder yielded same results of compression and tensile strength values with samples using no stone powder addition. In this regard 5 % stone powder addition can reduce the cement consumption, and decrease environmental pollution due to stone wastes. As a result it can be concluded that 5 % stone powder addition will be both economically and environmentally advantageous.
