Özet

Individuals with profound multiple disabilities face significant challenges that impact their daily functioning and overall quality of life (QOL). Assessing their QOL is complex and requires specifically developed questionnaires. The Quality of Life – Profound Multiple Disabilities (QOL-PMD) Questionnaire was translated and culturally adapted for caregivers of individuals with profound multiple disabilities. Forty caregivers participated in this study. It was found that 54 out of 55 items yielded reliable and valid scores. The overall reliability of the adapted QOL-PMD questionnaire, as indicated by Cronbach’s alpha, was exceptionally high at .94. The adapted QOL-PMD questionnaire provided reliable and valid scores for assessing caregiver-reported perceptions of the QOL of individuals with profound multiple disabilities. Integrating QOL parameters into rehabilitation planning is essential. Future efforts should focus on developing adaptive parks and living spaces and fostering collaboration among relevant stakeholders to address the specific needs of individuals with profound multiple disabilities.
