Abstract

At the education given in pre-school institutions, different methods are used to address the development areas of children. All kinds of materials and techniques that help to reduce the subject desired to be taught to the child to a level that they understand fall within the field of educational technology. Considering that learning in children takes place on the multidimensional sensory axis, the primary aim of the study is to question the place of sound in games and toys, which has an important place in children's perception of the outside world. In this study, which was conducted to question the place of games and toys, which have an important place in the development of children from a designer perspective, in pre-school education, a survey was conducted with teachers working in kindergartens. A questionnaire consisting of 9 multiple-choice and 6 open-ended questions was prepared in order to determine the toys with auditory and visual features used in kindergartens and to collect information from the educators to determine the effects of these toys on children. By creating the same form on the internet, it is aimed to reach a wider audience. Data were obtained from a total of 45 individuals, one to one with 10 educators and 35 from the internet. Within the scope of the study, descriptive analyzes of the data obtained were made using the typical case study method, one of the qualitative research designs; by presenting the suggestions of the educators for the use of sound in education, the findings obtained were interpreted.
