Abstract

The factors affecting the growth and crystallization of Tm-doped KY(WO4)2 single crystal are studied; the synthesis parameters used to improve a quality of the single crystals are discussed. The laser properties of the grown Tm3+:KY(WO4)2 crystals were investigated. A maximum CW output power of about 0.65 W with a slope efficiency of 55 % was obtained at the wavelength of 1940 nm. In a passively Q-switched regime of operation laser pulses with energy of 40 μJ and duration of 10 ns were obtained at a repetition rate of 2.8 kHz at the incident pump power of 2.2 W.
