Özet

Penil erection is a complex neurovascular process in which physical and psychological factors are effective. Erectile dysfunction is defined as the inability to initiate or maintain sufficient penile erection for sexual performance. The risk factors for erectile dysfunction are advanced age, smoking, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, hypertension, overweight-obesity and lack of exercise. It has been established that erectile dysfunction is an early manifestation of endothelial dysfunction and precedes coronary artery disease. This is explained by the artery diameter hypothesis. Physical activity plays a role to prevent and to treat erectile dysfunction, and to enhance the effect of medical treatment.
