Özet

The main purpose of this study is to examine the healthy life style behaviors of the student-athletes in universities based on various variables. The common characteristic of the group which was examined in the study is, along with being university students, involvement in sports in university teams. The research group consists of a total of 228 student-athletes who participate in basketball and volleyball championships, which are organized by the Turkey National universities sports federation, from various regions of Turkey to represent their own universities. "Healthy life style behavior scale" which was developed by Walker, Sechrist ye Pender and adapted into by Esin (1997) was used in order to collect data. The healthy life style behavior total points of the student-athletes are found to be high. In the health responsibility sub-scale, the point averages of females are found to be significantly higher than those of the male students. As regards the nutrition dimension, although the point average of females is found to be high, the difference between point averages is not significant.
