Complexes of some metals are known to be inhibitors of various physiological processes in photosynthesizing organisms. In order to search for new efficient inhibitors, six novel antimony(III) complexes are synthesized and studied for inhibition of the photochemical activity of photosystem II (PSII) and key chloroplast enzymes, such as carbonic anhydrase and glutathione reductase. It is found that several complexes efficiently inhibit the carbonic anhydrase activity of PSII but inhibit the photochemical activity of this photosystem less efficiently. All the complexes inhibit the activity of chloroplast glutathione reductase.
