In this study, some physical and mechanical properties of paste and mortar mixtures obtained by adding different proportions slaked lime to cement based mortar mixtures were investigated. CEM I cement, slaked lime, CEN standard sand and tap water were used in the paste and mortar mixtures. Slaked lime was replaced with CEM I in the ratio 0%, 20%, 40%, 60% and 80% by weight and paste and mortar mixtures were prepared by this way. Workability was kept fixed in all paste and mortar mixtures. On the paste mixtures, consistency water, initial and final setting times and soundness were tested. 40x40x160 mm prism samples were produced with the prepared mortar mixtures. Unit weight, flexural strength and compressive strength tests were carried out at the age of 7, 28 and 90 days on the hardened mortar samples. As a result; it was determined that the increase in the amount of slaked lime entering the paste mixtures increased the amount of consistency water, relatively decreased of initial setting time, increased of final setting time and decreased the soundness. On the other hand, the increase in the slaked lime; it was determined that the mortars reduced the unit weight, flexural strength and compressive strength.
