The finding of isolated distant metastatic axillary lymphadenopathy without remarkable intra-abdominal disease is very unusual. We report on a patient with primary peritoneal serous carcinoma who initially presented with axillary lymphadenopathy, and was misdiagnosed as having primary breast cancer. In the case of an isolated axillary adenocarcinoma various kinds of immunohistochemical tests should be performed in order to elucidate the origin of the malignancy. Copyright (C) 2002 S.
