Özet
Spectroscopy is a scientific method for studying the interaction of atoms and molecules with electromagnetic radiation, enabling the identification and analysis of materials across various fields. X-ray spectrometers, developed soon after the discovery of X-rays, analyze wavelengths, energies, and fluxes of X-rays to provide detailed insights into materials using techniques such as X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). These methods are critical for characterizing materials in various applications, including dentistry, which promotes oral and overall health. This chapter aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the fundamental X-ray spectroscopic techniques and their application in dental materials research.
