Özet

One of the most important problems is the necessity of adaptability of architecture, which is one of the areas most affected by the impact of global climate change on the environment. Designing adaptive structures and building elements based on adaptable performance according to environmental conditions and climate is important in terms of environmental protection and sustainability. In adaptive designs, the rapid adaptation of buildings to changing conditions is because facades and building envelopes can move in accordance with the conditions, that is, they can be dynamic. Facades and building envelopes can be kinetic in adaptive designs, allowing the building to be adapted to the external environment in a short time and to produce practical solutions for user needs. The dynamics of facades and building envelopes allow flexible designs in architecture. In addition, thanks to the adaptability of buildings that are sensitive to changing climatic conditions and adaptable to possible situations, it is ensured that the life of the building is extended, and the structure is sustainable. As a result of the literature research carried out within the scope of the study, the necessary data are presented and the adaptive facade and building envelopes are examined through examples, and general information is given about the design strategies that should be considered when constructing the systems and making changes in the installation. As a result of the research, it has been concluded that the creation of adaptable concepts sensitive to the climate by making adaptive designs on the facade and building envelopes in accordance with the project requirements will be among the most preferred systems among the construction techniques of the future. This study aims to shed light on adaptive facades and building envelopes in terms of being a preliminary guide to future studies and building examples.
