Özet

Human life is adversely affected by the visual loss arising from numerous reasons while eyesight is one of the most critical functions of human beings. Degenerative retinal diseases leading to vision loss most frequently detected throughout the world include Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP). Visual prosthesis which have recently been tried to be developed is now a hope for certain patients with vision loss. In this study, it is examined that reasons why vision loss are happened, which diseases can be restored with such an approach, as well as the methods in the literature for the visual restoration and recent developments and findings obtained from human and animal based tests and clinical trials.
